Today is election silence day in Bulgaria before the snap parliamentary election in the country on 2 October.
The election campaign of the candidates seeking public support for entering the 48th National Assembly of the country ends at 12 PM on 30 September. The Saturday preceding the election, which is free of political campaigning, affords citizens an opportunity to reflect, formulate their preferences and choose who will represent them in the next parliament of the country. Distributing new campaign materials is not allowed, nor is destroying campaign material already put up. The law strictly forbids the publication of any sociological surveys regarding voter attitudes, or any form of political campaigning 24 hours prior to the election, and on election day.
Today the parties, coalitions and nomination committees submit, to the regional election commissions, applications for registration of the candidate list agents who have to be certified by the commission. A list of the authorized persons is posted to the regional election commission’s website in compliance with the personal data protection requirements.
The Central Electoral Commission has the task of posting, to their website, a list of the election observers.
