The National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party is meeting today to discuss the results of the October 2 parliamentary elections. BSP placed 5th at the latest snap elections. At the extraordinary plenum, the socialists are expected to decide whether to convene a National Congress to elect a new leader.

It became clear that the party's Control Commission had banned five members of the National Council from taking part at the extraordinary plenum, including Kiril Dobrev and Kaloyan Pargov, who were expelled from the Bulgarian Socialist Party’s National Council but were later reinstated by the court. Pargov and Dobrev are among the opponents of the party’s leader Kornelia Ninova, who demanded her resignation and callеd for an extraordinary congress of the socialist party.
