Vera Nemirova has been nominated for director of the year for 2021, the State Opera in Varna where she works as a permanent visiting stage director has announced. The nomination is by Die Opernwelt magazine which covers the work of the world's top opera theatres. The other nominations are: Kirill Serebrennikov, Peter Konwitschny and Stefan Herheim. Nemirova’s nomination is for her directorial staging of the opera Don Carlos by Giuseppe Verdi at Semperoper in Dresden.
