The new section of Hemus motorway between Buhovtsi (Targovishte region) and Belokopitovo (Shumen region) is open to traffic. Nearly 74.14 million euros were allocated from the national budget for its construction.

The section is narrower than the usual standard for a motorway, said the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works arch. Ivan Shishkov, quoted by Radio Shumen. Mr. Shishkov explained that this was the plan for the project several years ago.

The road has only four lanes, while the emergency lane and the dividing strip are narrower. Accordingly, the speed limit in the section is 120 km/h, not 140 km/h. So far, 190 km of the 420-km long Hemus motorway have been built.
