The situation is difficult, there are many crises to deal with, none of the Bulgarian citizens expect the political ego to gain the upper hand. Desislava Atanasova, chairwoman of the parliamentary group of GERB-SDS, stated this to the media in the parliament, after their meeting with the contact group led by President Rosen Plevneliev (2012-2017) and Solomon Passy.

Atanasova expressed hope that in the coming days some of the parliamentary forces will rethink their positions and realize that there can be no union without dialogue. According to Tomislav Donchev (GERB-SDS), if it is possible to form a ruling majority, it should be based on common principles, positions, programs. We will not make an arithmetic majority under any circumstances, stressed Donchev.

Rosen Plevneliev pointed out that the contact group is optimistic and sees a much larger field of agreement than what is currently publicly visible. He also noted that during the negotiations with GERB-SDS, a written refusal for a meeting was received from Democratic Bulgaria. There are refusals also from "We Continue the Change" and "BSP for Bulgaria".

The idea of creating the contact group came from the leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov.
