The heads of seven of the nine regional police stations in Sofia will be replaced, as well as the heads of the Regional Directorates of Interior in Plovdiv and Kyustendil. This was announced by the interim Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev.

The replacements in Sofia are after a series of inspections due to serious traffic accidents in the capital. The inspections revealed weak management control.

The head of the Plovdiv directorate was replaced at his request, and in Kyustendil - because of unauthorised meetings with GERB representatives during the election campaign. Demerdzhiev stressed that political appointments in the Interior Ministry should be stopped.
