During the past day, more than 40 settlements in Ukraine were attacked by Russian forces. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army, the defense repelled the attacks in Ivangrad, Bakhmut, Soledar and others.

The Russian units are trying to retain the occupied territories and are advancing towards Bakhmut and Avdeevka. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russian army has not abandoned the city of Kherson, but instead is strengthening it and preparing for a major battle in the city itself. In an interview with Ukrainska Pravda newspaper, Major General Kyrylo Budanov of the intelligence agency claimed that Russian forces were trying to create "the illusion that all is lost" while at the same time reinforcing Kherson's defenses with new military units.

Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and residential areas continue. Ukrainian and Western officials say the attacks are being coordinated by energy specialists who know exactly which targets will cause maximum damage to Ukraine's grid. According to experts the change in Russia's tactics is alarming because it could create a new wave of refugees and further aggravate the state of the Ukrainian economy.
