Bulgaria to buy 8 more F-17 fighter aircraft

Bulgaria’s National Assembly adopted a draft investment expenditure for the acquisition of a new type of fighter aircraft - second stage, the BTA reported. 162 MPs voted in favour, 49 MPs voted against and 11 MPs abstained.

 GERB/SDS, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, "Democratic Bulgaria", "Bulgarian Rise", as well as some MPs from "We Continue the Change" party voted in favor. 10 MPs from"We Continue the Change" abstained and 1 MP voted against. BSP for Bulgaria and Vazrazhdane also voted against. 

The project provides for equipping and arming of one squadron of 16 F-16 Block-70 multirole fighter aircraft and completing the process of building and utilizing the aviation equipment, armament and ground systems within the first and second stages of the project for acquiring a new type of combat aircraft.
