NGOs call for presidential veto on amendments to the Electoral Code

Photo: BGNES

In a declaration proposed by the "Justice for Everyone" Initiative, NGO representatives insist that President Rumen Radev impose a reasoned veto on amendments to the Electoral Code in defense of the constitutionally guaranteed right of Bulgarians to fair and free elections.

The text of the declaration states that, with almost no arguments, MPs from three parliamentary groups attempted a "harmful attack on the transparency of elections and the right to a free vote".
The declaration was proposed at a meeting, on the initiative of "Democratic Bulgaria" and "We Continue the Change", which invited representatives of the non-governmental sector to the National Assembly.
