The Council of Ministers has never expressed a view that our country is on the verge of war, caretaker Premier Galab Donev said during the parliamentary control in response to a question by the leader of the Bulgarian Sosialist Party Kornelia Ninova regarding a statement by the caretaker government’s spokesman Anton Kutev.

A week ago, in an interview with the BNR, Anton Kutev said that weapons are needed when things are on the verge of war. "The Council of Ministers is closely following the development of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine and is assessing the risks and threats to Bulgaria’s national security. The Bulgarian government shall ensure that our country is ready to respond adequately in the event of an escalation and expansion of the conflict. The Council of Ministers does not decide whether to buy weapons or what kinds of weapons to buy, but implements the National Assembly’s decisions to modernise the Bulgarian armed forces", Galab Donev said. Premier Donev said that he was following the dialogue between the Parliamentary parties and noted that the Bulgarian citizens expect the formation of a regular government.
