On Saturday, December 10, writer and researcher Jorge Cocicov will receive the Honorary Badge of the President of Bulgaria for his significant contribution to the study and preservation of the history of the immigration of Bessarabian Bulgarians in Brazil. Cocicov was born in Brazil, but has Bessarabian Bulgarian roots, which motvated him to start studying the history of Bulgarians who immigrated to Brazil.
The honorary badge will be presented to him by the ambassador of Bulgaria to Brazil, Bozhidara Sarchadzhieva at a celebration in the Bulgarian Sunday School in Sao Paulo. Jorge Cocicov books "Immigration of Bulgarians in Brazil" and "Immigration in Brazil and Uruguay: Bessarabian Bulgarians and Gagauz" can also be read in Bulgarian thanks to the translation from Portuguese by Radio Bulgaria’s long-time translator, Maya Daskalova.
