President Rumen Radev and his wife Desislava will participate in the traditional ritual of lighting the candles for Hanukkah. In the Central Synagogue in Sofia at 18:00, the head of state will light the first candle.

The Jewish holiday commemorates the recovery of Jerusalem and subsequent re-dedication of the Second Temple. Each night, one additional candle is lit until all eight candles are lit together on the final night of the festival. One of the candles is lit by a person respected by the Jewish community.
