On December 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to visit the United States, CNN reports, citing two of its sources. Zelensky is expected to meet U.S. President Biden in the White House. According to Reuters, Zelensky may also hold a speech. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has asked all lawmakers to be present on Wednesday evening in the US Congress.

The visit coincides with the intention of the presidential administration to send a new package of military aid to Kyiv in the amount of 1.8 billion dollars. The Pentagon is expected to send the Patriot missile defense system and Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) to Ukraine. At the end of the year, as part of the discussion on the federal budget, the Congress will also approve the allocation of 44.9 billion USD in aid to Ukraine in 2023. This will be Zelensky's first foreign visit since the beginning of the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

The visit has not been officially confirmed and a change in the planned schedule is possible because of security reasons, one of the sources said.
