“84 Russian staff members in Bulgaria have been declared persona non grata in 2022”, Plamen Tonchev, chairman of the State Agency for National Security (SANS) said for the Bulgarian news agency BTA. In 2021 there were 3.

"There is no direct risk to Bulgaria from the war in Ukraine, but it could lead to an increase in the migrant flow. Prices could go up, and there could be supply chain disruptions,” Tonchev said. "The war in Ukraine is a reflection of Russia’s ambitions regarding the world order and the confrontation with USA and the West. 2022 put on the agenda issues like global food security and overcoming the EU’s energy dependence on Russia. The unresolved problems in the Balkans are an impediment to Euro-Atlantic integration and to attracting investments to the region," Plamen Tonchev stated.
