Bulgarian investigative journalist Christo Grozev, who in the last days of 2022 was added to Russia's 'wanted list', was heard online by Bulgarian MPs

He said he did not know the reasons for Moscow's warrant. What he does have is information from the RIA Novosti Russian state agency that he had violated the law on covering military operations. According to Grozev, this would be a legal precedent as it is the first time a country's national law has been applied to a citizen of a third country. According to him, Bulgaria has the opportunity now not only to defend its national but also to launch a pan-European initiative in defence of journalists' right to freedom of speech.
