Strong wind causes delays, diversions of flights at Sofia airport

The strong wind in the capital Sofia has disrupted the flight schedule at Sofia Airport. Six planes were diverted and landed at the Plovdiv reserve airport. While circling over Sofia, many planes wait for the wind to calm down before landing.

A Romanian Airlines flight returned to Bucharest in the morning.

Departures are on time, with the exception of companies whose planes are located in Plovdiv.

The airport is open and operating in strong wind conditions, which means that aircraft captains are deciding whether they will be able to land, the airport explained and urged passengers to check the airport's website in a timely manner.
