European solidarity is also needed with the countries close to Ukraine, agriculture minister says

“A glut is being created on the local agricultural market because instead of export corridors, the countries that are close to Ukraine are turning into warehouses.” During a meeting with agriculture ministers from Poland, Romania, Hungary and Czechia at the Green Week Berlin 2023 trade fair, Bulgaria’s Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev stated that Bulgaria stands in solidarity with Ukraine, but that European solidary it also needed with the countries around it because competitiveness has been breached. Moreover, the farming produce entering from third countries does not meet the EU’s environmental standards. In connection with this, the agriculture ministers agreed to raise the issue at the next meeting of the EU Council of Ministers.
