Five people have been arrested in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia during an operation by the European Prosecutor's Office against cross-border VAT fraud. The operation under the name "Display" is being carried out in 10 EU member states - Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Slovenia.

According to the European Public Prosecutor's Office, damages worth 32 million euros were caused by this fraud scheme.
The investigation began in 2021, shortly after the creation of the prosecutor's office.

The suspects are said to have been trafficking small electronic devices from Germany and selling them through so-called "missing dealers" across Europe.
