In recent years, there has been a certain retreat when it comes to countering malicious Russian influence, Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev said at an international discussion in the US Congress in Washington, dedicated to the consequences of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

According to Geshev, after the beginning of the war and given the fact that Bulgaria is located close to the conflict zone, there has been "an increased intensity of malicious Russian influence". Therefore, he thinks that it is necessary to improve cooperation both at national level and between institutions in the partner countries.

Ivan Geshev also addressed the representatives of the Euro-Atlantic countries from the Balkans, calling on them for joint actions to guarantee security in the region.
