The organization and holding of the sixth consecutive elections for the past two years will cost EUR 6.1 million, Rositsa Mateva, deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission, has told bTV.
On April 2, Bulgarians will vote for members of the 49th National Assembly using machines or paper ballots. There will be a change in the number of mandates in ten districts because of the results of the last population census, Mateva said. According to her, the challenges would be related to the amendments to the Electoral Code and the fact that some activities would have to be organized differently. When it comes to changes to the software for the machines, it has become clear that talks with its creators are still ongoing and the CEC is awaiting information on what needs to be done.
