About 1.1 million Ukrainian refugees have entered Bulgaria since the beginning of the war, BTA reported, citing Seda Kuzucu, representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Bulgaria.

During a press conference at BTA, Kuzucu noted that Bulgaria has registered more than 151,000 refugees from Ukraine for temporary protection, with about 50,000 remaining in the country

Bulgaria is expected to receive aid from the organization in the amount of 19.4 million USD for this year, as UNHCR and nine humanitarian partners will assist the Bulgarian government in providing asylum for 200,000 refugees from Ukraine.

Kuzucu added that the protection actions this year will aid 45,000 refugees and 1,350 children.

Another 7.6 million USD will be needed for the well-being and basic needs of Ukrainians. Work will also continue on their social and economic integration.
