The drivers of vans carrying illegal migrants in Bulgaria receive instructions from migrant smugglers to hit police cars and cause damage if chased by police. This was announced to the BNR by the Director of the Border Police, Chief Commissioner Rositsa Dimitrova.

After crossing the Bulgarian border, illegal migrants often hide in the Strandzha Mountain until migrant smugglers arrive, Dimitrova explained.
Border police have recently reported a trend that the drivers of vans transporting migrants often do it drugged.

The number of persons not allowed to cross the Bulgarian-Turkish border since the beginning of the year has increased by 50%.

The number of troops included in the guarding of the Bulgarian border with Turkey is likely to be increased, Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov told BNT.
