In the municipality of Bolyarovo, on the border with Turkey, the operation of the border police department, closed in June 2022, has already partially been restored.

35 border guards are currently appointed, while there were 100 employees a year ago, BNR correspondent Daniela Kostova reported.
The presence of the border guards gives security to the residents of the villages along the Bulgarian-Turkish border, emphasized the mayor of the municipality Hristo Hristov.

Meanwhile, migrant pressure in the area remains increased. Almost every day migrants are seen by local people. "Hungry, muddy, we have had no problems with aggression on their part, I have no information about such problems also elsewhere," said the mayor of the village of Voden, Bolyarovo municipality, Stoyanka Chakarova.

However, the presence of migrants is an alarming factor for local residents.
