Bulgaria's livestock farmers are preparing for protests and roadblocks across the country, public television reports. They are demanding the immediate payment of EU aid granted to farmers for mitigating the effects of the war in Ukraine.

They point out that such compensation has been paid across Europe, but not in Bulgaria, and it is unclear when it will be distributed to livestock farmers.

According to the new strategic plan, aid to livestock farmers is expected to be reduced by 30%. A meeting is scheduled for 1 March at the Ministry of Agriculture and if the farmers' demands are not taken into account, they are ready to block traffic in Blagoevgrad the very next day.
