To mark Bulgaria’s national day, 3 March, Washington DC was supposed to illuminate Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in the colours of the Bulgarian national flag. But instead of white, green and red, at 6.30 PM local time the bridge was illuminated in white, blue and red. Several hours later, after the Bulgarian embassy alerted the authorities to the error, it was rectified. It is still unclear what the mix-up was due to.
