Bulgaria will urge the EU to make the subsidies Bulgarian producers receive equal to the subsidies in the countries of Western Europe, Agriculture Minister in the caretaker government Yavor Gechev said in an interview with public service TV BNT.

On 8 March the government will approve a declaration and submit it to the Council of the EU, insisting on opening the multiannual financial framework and leveling the subsidies, Minister Gechev said. In his words the Ukraine crisis is impacting the countries of Eastern Europe very much. These are the countries which receive lower subsidies than the Western countries. Grain producers in Bulgaria, but also in Romania, Poland and Hungary are getting ready for protests, Minister Gechev added.
