The Czech Centre in Sofia is screening six films by the popular Czech director and Oscar winner Jan Svěrák. The films are subtitled in Bulgarian and will be shown until March 17. Jan Svěrák will be among the guests at the 27th Sofia Film Fest at the invitation of the Czech Centre and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Sofia. During the film festival, on March 18, he will present his latest film "Bethlehem Night".
"The Elementary School", "Accumulator 1", "The Ride", "Dark Blue World", "Empties" and the Oscar-winning foreign language film "Kolya" are among the films that will be screened free of charge at the Czech Centre. The screening began on March 10 with Svěrák’s debut film "The Elementary School". The story of “The Elementary School” takes place shortly after World War II in a boys’ school in Prague. The script was written by Jan Svěrák’s father, Zdenek Svěrák, and contains many biographical elements.
