"The people are ready for a strike," Ognyan Atanasov - vice president of one of the two largest trade unions in the country, CITUB, has warned in an interview with BNR. He said that the trade union organization has called for a regular budget for the whole year and clear policy on incomes. According to him, without securing the money for adequate income policy, a deficit below 3% cannot be pursued. He added that there was a risk of freezing incomes and social payments.

A day earlier, the Ministry of Finance presented a "concept" for the state budget for 2023, predicting 3% deficit. At the end of 2022, the National Assembly extended the 2022 budget for 2023.
