Overlapping international meetings focus on the war in Ukraine

EU foreign and defense ministers meet in Brussels on March 20 to discuss the support for Ukraine. The meeting precedes the European Council summit on March 23 and 24.

Justice ministers from more than 40 countries will meet on March 20 in London, AFP reports. They will discuss scaling up support for the International Criminal Court it issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Chinese president Xi Jinping will embark on a three-day trip to Moscow in an apparent show of support for Vladimir Putin, “The Telegraph” reported. Russian President Vladimir Putin will be looking more than ever for a show of solidarity from his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping when he welcomes him to Moscow on Monday, Reuters reported. Xi will be the first world leader to shake Putin’s hand since the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for the Russian leader on Friday.

White House Spokesperson John Kirby told Fox News that any call by Putin and Xi for a ceasefire now would be unacceptable, because it would simply "ratify Russia's conquest to date."

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukraine's president, critisized China's peace proposal, UNIAN reported. He stated that China's peace plan lacks balanced logic and contains contradictions.
