The results of the laboratory examination of chicken eggs imported from Ukraine will become clear today, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency announced. With the help of the samples taken, it will be determined whether they contain radioactivity, heavy metals, inhibitors or residues of veterinary medicinal products.

In the period March 9-19 this year, more than 2.6 million eggs were imported from Ukraine and Latvia, but all shipments had the necessary documents and certificates that they came from farms of proven origin and were approved for import into the EU, the agency specified.

Meanwhile, the Union of Poultry Breeders has warned that eggs from Ukraine may appear on the domestic market as Bulgarian. However, according to the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, each of them carries an origin code on its shell.
