The state is to finance 80% (without VAT) of irrigation water for farming producers as a measure against expensive food, public service TV BNT reports. At a press conference to present the information online platform of comparative food prices, Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev pointed out that this will give “agricultural producers, but also consumers some breathing space”. As to the electronic food traceability register, it will follow through each step in wholesale trade as regards food quality, but also prices. In Minister Gechev’s words, it will include all foods, including mineral water and beer. There will be a separate section for grain, cereals and oilseed, with traceability for every silo in Bulgaria.
