Next week, the Council of Ministers will approve Bulgaria's position on the request to renegotiate the parameters related to the functioning of coal-fired power plants, in accordance with the decision of the Bulgarian National Assembly. The changes will then be proposed to the European Commission and negotiations will begin, caretaker Minister of Energy Rosen Hristov said for the BNR.

In Minister Hristov's words, it is important not to make political commitments for the premature closure of coal-fired power stations, so that the affected regions have enough time to develop alternative energy sources and create new jobs. This cannot happen in a year or two. The funds under the Recovery and Resilience Plan will be absorbed, minister Hristov said.
