Hungary joins initiative for supply of shells to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has told the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, that the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant cannot be guaranteed until Russian troops left the facility. Russia is holding Ukraine's and Europe's largest nuclear power plant hostage in order to use it for radiation blackmail, Zelensky said, quoted by Reuters.

The UN Security Council rejected a Moscow-drafted resolution calling for an independent investigation into the "sabotage" of the Nord Stream gas pipeline from Russia to Germany in September 2022, AFP reported.

Meanwhile, Hungary and four other countries, including Poland, have joined the EU initiative to supply artillery shell to Ukraine, according to a publication on the website of the European Defense Agency - EDA. In this way, 22 countries from the community, as well as Norway, have already committed to deliver 1 million projectiles of different calibers to Ukraine in the next 12 months. Bulgaria, Ireland, Slovenia, Latvia and Denmark remain outside the initiative at this stage.
