We can manufacture 155 mm shells, but on an experimental basis, Economy Minister said

The state-owned armaments company VMZ-Sopot can manufacture 155 mm shells like the ones the EU plans to send to Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Economy Nikola Stoyanov. According to him, however, it is a question of experimental and not serial production of such ammunition in Bulgaria.

Last week the EU approved a plan to supply Ukraine with 1 million 155 mm shells with high destructive capacity. States that have reserves of ammunition will be able to send them and will be compensated by a European fund. Bulgaria refuses to join such a joint order. Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said that the Bulgarian Army does not use 155 mm shells.

At the same time, President Rumen Radev emphasized that together with the European Commission Bulgaria will also work to attract more investment to the Bulgarian military defense industry.
