Low voter turnout at the elections for the 49th National Assembly in Bulgaria

Voting machines not working in 40 polling stations, CEC reports

There are 11,818 polling stations in the country, 9,366 of which will have machine voting. There are also mobile ballot boxes, polling stations in health and social care facilities, as well as on vessels and in penitentiaries. According to the electoral rolls of the Central Election Commission, 6,594,593 people have the right to vote in Bulgaria

Turnout at 9am was low at 3.6%, with machine voting preferred by voters, according to polling agency Gallup International Balkan. The CEC said machines were not working in nearly 40 polling stations across the country.
