Catholics in Bulgaria celebrate the triumphal entry of Christ into the royal city of Jerusalem. The people of Jerusalem welcomed Jesus as the messiah and covered the road in front of the Savior with palm branches. Palm Sunday in Bulgaria it is popularly known as Tsvetnitsa (from "tsvete" - "flower") or Vrabnitsa (from "varba" - "willow") because of the willow branches that have already sprouted. According to tradition, the willow branches are blessed by the priest in church, and then brought home and placed in each of the rooms.
The Armenian community also celebrates on today.
