In 2022, a total of 1,992 North Macedonians received Bulgarian citizenship, according to data of the Commission on Bulgarian Citizenship at the President. 1,639 Ukrainians also received Bulgarian citizenship, followed by Turks - 1,290, Serbs - 556, Albanians - 517 and Moldovans - 476.
The data are similar to the previous two years, but then people from North Macedonia who became Bulgarians by passport were 7,696 in 2021 and 9,098 in 2020.
