A rescue operation by land and air is underway in Annapurna in the Himalayas. Two people have gone missing and an avalanche is blocking the route by which they should have descended.

The Bulgarian climber Gospodin Dinev postponed his attempt to scale the peak over a luggage incident, which in practice saved his life. Dinev had to descend, after having reached 6,400 m. Because of the incident, the 64-year old veteran climber was forced to descend by almost 1,000 m. where he found part of his luggage. At that precise moment an avalanche fell in the higher reaches of the mountain. Gospodin Dinev is now safe at base camp, where he is waiting for a change in the weather conditions.
