The French Institute in Sofia invites us to a screening and raises the question - Sustainable or (un)bearable is our future
The film "The Green Planet" (La Belle Verte directed by Coline Serreau, 1996 - in French, with English subtitles) will be screened on 22 April at 2 pm in the Slaveykov Hall of the French Institute in Bulgaria. The screening is part of the initiative of the French Institutes around the world called "Night of Ideas 2023". The eighth edition of this initiative is themed "More?", and the French Institute in Bulgaria looks at the topic through the prism of environmental issues. Under the title "The future: sustainable or (un)bearable?" participants in the event on 20 April discussed the sustainable but also destructive practices of consumers and hikers alike.
"We are constantly reminded that our lifestyles and consumption lead to overexploitation of natural resources. We are also aware that, as a society, we generate colossal amounts of waste, some of which are permanent pollutants of the natural environment. Yet are we able to measure the harmful consequences of our behaviour? Do the solutions we propose really matter?" ask the forum organisers.
