Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev was not traveling together with his family when an explosion took place on the Sofia-Samokov road on June 1. Together with him in the car were officers of the National Security Service, Geshev announced in an interview with BNT.

Initially, the director of the National Investigation Service, Borislav Sarafov, said that Ivan Geshev was traveling together with his family, but a few days later he denied the information and said that he incorrectly interpreted the words of the chief prosecutor. Geshev also attributed the discrepancies to various interpretations of his informal answers to journalists.

Ivan Geshev, who is currently paying a visit to New York, did not comment on Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev's claims about the force of the explosion, adding that only experts could give an accurate answer. "I personally saw the car and there is minor damage to it,” the minister previously said. The chief prosecutor pointed out that the preliminary conclusions about 3 kg of TNT equivalent were made by experts of the Anti-Terrorism Unit of the Ministry of Interior.

In the interview, Ivan Geshev also said that the motorcade did not stop after the explosion, but continued towards the capital. "I'm not afraid, some other people should be," he said in conclusion.
