Exhibitions, concerts, workshops, films, organized guided tours - more than 50 museums and galleries will offer a rich program within the "European Night of Museums" in Sofia. Throughout the day of May 13, residents of Sofia will be able to visit dozens of events with free entry, see some of the most interesting exhibition spaces, immerse themselves in the world of contemporary art and science, and even transport themselves to virtual reality.
The French Institute in Bulgaria in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and the Sofia Municipality stand behind the initiative. At the European level, the Night of Museums is organized for the 19th time with the participation of over 3,000 museums in 30 countries. Bulgaria has participated since the beginning in 2005. On this occasion, the French Institute in Sofia has prepared an interesting program. Its media library will present selected virtual reality experiences. Its visitors can take a virtual walk across Paris, see the Eiffel Tower, the City Hall, the Musée d'Orsay, the Church of St. Eustache, the Palais Garnier and will fly into space with the help of French astronaut Thomas Pesquet.
Screenings of French films from the 1970s are also planned. The Sofia Municipality will present its galleries in the open air downtown Sofia. The Italian Embassy will organize a special exhibition on the occasion of Europe Day.
For music lovers, there are also scheduled concerts – in the Pancho Vladigerov Museum House, in the Sofia City Art Gallery, in the Earth and People Museum.
