NSI: Bulgaria's GDP up 2% in the first quarter of 2023, inflation goes down

Inflation in Bulgaria in April has gone down to 0.3% compared to March and to 11.6% compared to the same month last year, the National Statistical Institute said. Year-to-date inflation (January 2023-April 2023) is 3% and the average annual inflation (May 2023 vs April 2022) is 16.3%.

 In the first quarter of 2023, Bulgaria’s gross domestic product grew by 2% compared to the same period last year, and by 0.4% as compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. According to the forecast of the European Commission, Bulgaria’s economy will mark an annual growth of 1.5%. The quarterly average income per person in the household in the first quarter of the year was EUR 1,223 - 19.3% more than in the first quarter of 2022.
