The Special Envoy and Coordinator for the U.S. Department of State's Global Engagement Center, James Rubin, will visit Bulgaria during the week, the State Department has reported. Rubin's mission in Sofia is to strengthen support for initiatives aimed to combat disinformation. After the visit to Bulgaria, Rubin would be going to Brussels, it was also reported. The U.S. diplomat is already in Europe and has taken part in the GLOBSEC 2023 forum in the Slovak capital Bratislava.
"Kremlin's disinformation and interference in the internal affairs of Eastern European countries is a huge problem," co-chairman of "We Continue the Change", Kiril Petkov, who took part in the forum in Bratislava, wrote in Facebook. "All pro-European forces have an obligation to stop this process and guarantee our citizens a normal European life and strong and functioning institutions. Only together do we stand a chance against these destructive forces. These are just some of the topics of my meetings with European leaders at the conference," Petkov added.
