We have returned the decision-making center where it belongs - in Bulgaria, Prime Minister Galab Donev said at an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, at which the caretaker cabinet presented a report on its work since February 3.

"Perhaps, there are about 24 hours until the end of our responsibilities as a caretaker cabinet. These were 10 exhausting months. You need to think about the people, as they are the state. Don't try to crush them as this relationship model no longer works. Political arrogance is useless," Donev said in a message to the future regular cabinet.

In addition to the successfully conducted parliamentary elections, Donev listed the issues which the caretaker cabinet worked on and pointed out achievements such as: support for raising citizens' purchasing power; reduction of inflation; limiting monopolies and speculation; support for producers; strengthening border security and preventing 31,000 illegal border crossing attempts; fight against lawlessness and countermeasures against corruption; judicial reform; the establishment of an air ambulance center; strengthening Bulgaria's leadership role in the region.

"Accession to Schengen was one of the government's commitments; intensive talks were held with the Netherlands for finding a formula that gives confidence reservations towards Bulgaria will be cleared. Despite the postponement, preparations for accession to the Eurozone continue," Galab Donev said in conclusion.
