The National Assembly rejected the request for changes to the Labor Code proposed by BSP, stipulating that the minimum wage should be set at 50% of the average gross wage for the country for a period of 12 months from July 1 instead of January 1, 2024. If the proposal was accepted, the minimum salary would have increased to 434.6 EUR a month.

"A budget is to be adopted until the end of 2023, and then also for 2024. This budget is expected to be anti-social - a 3% deficit means freezing all incomes," BSP leader Korneliya Ninova said. At the moment, the minimum salary is is BGN 780 /EUR 398.81
