At a conference on anti-Semitism at the Bar-Ilan University in Tel Aviv, Assoc. Prof. Rumyana Christidi, who is head of Jewish studies at Sofia University, presented Bulgaria’s experience in inter-ethnic relations.

“Relations between Jews and Bulgarians are very good, say 82% of the Jews and 73% of the Bulgarians. This creates conditions for integrity and a sense of security,” Assoc. Prof. Christidi said for the Israeli news agency TPS. According to the same survey, conducted by the Foreign Ministry, 83% of Bulgarians are positively disposed towards having Jews as their neighbours. 82% say Jews are well integrated into society. 91% of the Bulgarian Jews say they feel well integrated, and 88% say they feel safe in their daily lives.
