Bulgaria will celebrate International Yoga Day with a number of initiatives and practices in 33 locations between 17 and 25 June. In Sofia, yoga schools will take part in and organise a variety of independent open events. The official date for the celebration of the healthy practice, declared by UNESCO as part of the intangible cultural heritage, is 21 June, but events dedicated to Yoga Day start days earlier. On June 17, under the auspices of the Embassy of India, an open-air public practice will be held at the St. Alexander Nevsky.

The main event will be held the next day, June 18, with demonstrations of practices as well as lectures on various topics related to the essence of yoga. The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated in other cities of the country since 2015, when the Plovdiv Cultural Institute for the first time joined and organized a celebration in Plovdiv. Its example was followed by yoga schools in a number of towns in the country - Svilengrad, Burgas, Varna, Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo and Pernik.
