The highest increases in the employment rate during the first quarter of 2023, compared to the last quarter of last year, were recorded in Bulgaria - by 2.8 percentage points, with the employment rate of people aged 20 to 64 at a little over 78%, compared to 75.3% at the end of 2022, Eurostat data show. In the EU, the employment rate of people aged 20-64 stood at 75.3% in the first quarter of 2023 an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared with the fourth quarter of 2022. While employment rose in 19 EU countries, it remained stable in Latvia and Finland and decreased in 5 EU countries, with the biggest decreases recorded in Slovenia - minus 1.6 percentage points.
