A March for the Family "in defence of traditional family values" was held in the centre of Sofia. Hundreds of Bulgarians responded to the call to demonstrate, despite the rainy weather, supporting the thesis that "daddy is a man and mommy is a woman".

At the rally, organisers called for a long-term state strategy to tackle the demographic crisis. According to the latest UN data, Bulgarians are the fastest disappearing nation, so it is necessary to draw up a demographic strategy for Bulgaria by 2050, said Kristijan Shkvarek, organiser of the family march.

Representatives of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church joined the advocates of traditional family values. The procession ended with a concert in front of the Sveti Sedmochislenitsi Church.

In the meanwhile hundreds turned out at Sofia Pride parade which started at 2 pm. and will continue till 7 pm. There will be an afterparty at Toplocentrala club.
