Anti-organized crime unit and Europol shut down illegal distribution of TV content

Officers from the Cybercrime directorate in Plovdiv and in Varna have shut down the illegal distribution of TV content. According to information of the Interior Ministry press centre, the operation was organized by the General Directorate Combating Organised Crime, jointly with Europol. According to the evidence collected, the cable operator relayed TV programmes to its end customers for more than three years without permission from the rightholder and without notifying the controlling state authorities of its actions.

The operation is within the frameworks of the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT).
